According to the report, if the known investment plans are realized, this would mean:
- A total of €12 billion in investments
- 45,000 person-years of employment during the construction phase
- €1.7 billion in tax revenues during construction (including property, corporate, income, and value-added taxes)
- 9,900 direct and indirect person-years by 2030
- €400 million in annual tax revenues from 2030 onwards
- An increase in data center capacity from 285 MW to 1.5 GW
- Industry turnover quadrupling from €1 billion to €4 billion
Data centers are not only the backbone of digital infrastructure, but also an expanding source of investments, jobs, and energy solutions. They strengthen national security of supply and make Finland an attractive operating environment for international companies.

The report shows that the sector generates diverse positive economic and societal impacts, ranging from investments to employment and energy recycling. The report reinforces the view that data centers have a central role in Finland’s digitalization and industrial future. It is therefore essential to ensure that policymaking concerning the industry is based on researched knowledge and that the opportunities the sector brings are fully recognized.
